The name of Vardabed Komitas is very dear to every Armenian. Komitas was a very well-known composer of traditional Armenian music in the beginning of the century. After the atrocities of the turks which led to the Armenian Genocide in 1915, the mind of Vardabed Komitas couldn't bear the pain and anguish of his people.
On this recording the music of Komitas is beautifully performed by the Yerevan Chamber choir. No music, just blending voices.
